Mods for RasBeanJelly

The following mods should work with stock RasBeanJelly. Taken from my own AOSP derivative "PRIMERUNNER", based on Rascarlo's work.
Current releases are for Maguro only. Grouper will follow if spare time is available.

I've made some flashable zip files. Should work flawlessly. Nevertheless I advise you to make a backup before trying these out, just in case.

Features:

  • based on the current RasBeanJelly release (watch the date in the filename)
  • stock navigation bar customization thrown out of the source
  • navigation bar size slightly decreased
  • adaptive navbar layout, switches automagically from stock 3-button to 4-button (Nexus One style)
  • support for TrackballAlert added in
  • statusbar clock hidden (just in the top right corner, NOT that one in the notification drop-down)

Primerunner AOSP build

Hello world,

progress on my custom AOSP rom (Primerunner) continues well and I learnt a lot. I'm working on it for three days now and finally got TMobile's Theme Engine integrated today. This is very important for me because there is not really any rom available which is close to stock and lightweight at that point of time.
The more I search for a rom that offers this, the more silly CyanogenMod and AOKP 'fullstory spins with a fancy name' I encounter, and that's not what I want to run on my phone. (If I would, I'd rather flash the original - I've been running them both for a long time and they're really great roms indeed).

The closest roms that do what I want, are Pete's Bugless Beast and Rascarlo's Rascream. But unfortunately, they don't come with the possibility to switch themes like the both big ones.
So I decided to do it myself  :-)
Rascream is more recent but I couldn't find its source repo, so I based my work on BB (Pete has done a great job there and made it really easy to hack on - I thank him for that).

Back to topic:
I'm very confident to push an alpha out to my testers soon, if initial testing by me has been done. I'm also willing to deploy the code on my github repo when it's in a state where it's not that embarrassing for me if it's seen by real coders...  ;-) After all, I'm just working in the mechanical branch.

Here are some shots of the first official alpha build, running with a Trinity kernel and showing off some themes from Sonny Sekhon:

Carbon-look background

A small gradient mod (yay!):

As ever: Always perform backups!

This metamorph/ZipThemer-compatible zip-file provides everything you need to replace the ugly stock gradient shown in Android 4.0.x to a shiny carbon-look one.

RAScream Navbar Hack

I made the following zip for Lichti1901 on XDA:

As ever: Always perform backups!

This update.zip brings a modified framework-res.apk for RASCREAM_04-11-12. It includes a navbar size hack for both portrait and landscape view. With 36px (portrait) and 30px (landscape) I would call it "medium flavor". :)

Generic: GPS Fix for European users

I made the following zip for my friends and me.

As ever: Always perform backups!

This update.zip brings a modified gps.conf, tweaked to use European ntp time servers instead of the North American ones.

NexusPrime/Trinity: increased voltages

I made the following zip mostly for myself. My phone is not capable of running the 691 & 921MHz steps with the default voltage settings.

As ever: Always perform backups!

This update.zip brings an init.d script, which increases the voltages on said freq steps by 25mV. In addition to that, the minimum frequency (345 MHz) gets pushed by 50mV to compensate data loss in conjunction with my SmartReflexDisabler-Script.

NexusPrime: SmartReflex Disabler

I uploaded a handy script here - packed in a CWM-flashable zip -  in hope that it doesn't get lost during hasty crackflashin'

As ever: Always perform backups!

This update.zip brings a sysfs command which completely disables SmartReflex on boot. It allows us Overclockers/Undervolters to set fix voltages per frequency step. In addition it's a nice workaround for the "data-loss-bug" introduced in AOSP 4.04 ;)

Generic: Low-latency kernel settings

Here are some tiny flashable kernel tweaks I made for my friends and me!

Always perform backups!

My Tuner.zips don't replace your existing kernel or parts of your rom on your smartphone. They just provide some config files for slightly alterating the default virtual memory managment and process scheduler settings. Initial testing has been done on a Nexus Prime, an Optimus 2x and a GalaxyS2 but it should work out well on any other device, too.
These are intended to optimize responsiveness for unoptimized stock kernels.

Example:
Owner of a Nexus Prime running a custom kernel like Trinity or Franco -> not necessary, simply don't use it
Owner of an Optimus 2x / Tegra2 based device -> your governor is proprietary, always use 'without'
Owner of a Samsung GalaxyS2, DesireHD with stock CM7/9 -> use 'with'

Please note that the gps.conf, modified for users in Europe has been moved into a seperate update.zip!
